Miss Jyoti Shah, MBE, Macmillan Urological Consultant, has been honoured with the prestigious Health Hero Award for Stamford and Rutland Hospital at the North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust’s Outstanding Achievement Awards. The ceremony, held at the historic Peterborough Cathedral, celebrated staff and volunteers who have gone above and beyond in patient care and service improvement over the past year.
Miss Shah was recognised as a “stand-out clinician” for her tireless dedication to fighting prostate cancer in the local community. She has been instrumental in launching and developing a one-stop prostate clinic at Stamford & Rutland Hospital, as well as running a mobile prostate health check bus, giving up her weekends to reach men across the region. Her community clinics have led to the early detection of over 100 cases of prostate cancer, a disease that claims the life of one man in the UK every 45 minutes.
Her nominator praised her for not only diagnosing patients but also ensuring their ongoing wellbeing and quality of life post-treatment. Miss Shah’s compassion, commitment, and innovative approach make her an invaluable asset to the Trust and an inspiring leader in the field of urological health.
